DCLM Higher Everyday 5 April 2026 — The Risen Christ

DCLM Higher Everyday 5 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Risen Christ

Topic: The Risen Christ

Bible Reading: Luke 24:1-10

1Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

2And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

3And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

4And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

5And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

6He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

7Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

8And they remembered his words,

9And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

10It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.

MEMORY VERSE: “He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee” (Luke 24:6).
Message

Easter Sunday is a Christian holiday for celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, marking a time of hope, renewal, and new beginnings. It is a time of reflection, renewal, and expression of joy for believers in Christ. Robert Flatt rightly says: “The resurrection gives my life meaning and direction and the opportunity to start anew.” Easter period should be a period for Christians to reflect on the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. The resurrection of Christ is central or pivotal to the Christian faith because without His resurrection our hope of eternity with God will be fruitless.

Dear youth, the resurrection of Christ calls for sober reflection and evaluation of your life to be sure your life pleases Christ who sacrificed His very life to save you from sin and Satan to usher you into a life of peace with God and hope of a blissful eternity. As Christ rose from death, so are you also expected to rise from the grave of sin to the abundant life that is in Christ. Are you still dead in sin?

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord, help me to experience the power of the risen Christ.
CHALLENGE: The grave could not hold Him!
GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
