DCLM Sincere Milk 5 April 2026 — Listening Ears
DCLM Sincere Milk 5 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Listening Ears
Topic: Listening Ears
Bible Reading: Isaiah 30:19-21 (KJV)
19For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.
21And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
A good ‘listening habit’ is said to be worth having. The lack of this has deprived many children not only of God’s blessings, but also of secular profits. A child that pays close attention, listens attentively and is obedient to her teacher at school, church or to her parents or guardians at home will surely succeed. No doubt, Mrs. Goodday always began her Sunday school class with the song: “God has something to say; listen, listen and pay close attention: for God has something to say.” Children and adults hardly have time to listen to messages that will lead them to heaven. In our Bible passage, God is talking to us about the blessedness of hearing His instructions and doing them. He knows the world is filled with ungodly advisers in form of friends, teachers, books and movies. The only thing that will bring you eternal reward is to form that good habit of listening to and obeying the voice or the word of God.

The word of God shows and instructs you to walk in the good way to heaven without turning to the right or to the left. You will stumble if you turn your attention away from the Bible. Read the word. Think on the word. Listen to and obey the word of God. Follow the path of righteousness and you will find peace for your soul on earth and everlasting rest in heaven at the end.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
