DCLM Higher Everyday 23 April 2026 — God Will Turn Your Little To Much
Topic: God Will Turn Your Little To Much
Bible Reading: 2 Kings 4:1-7 (KJV)
1Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.
3Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.
4And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
5So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out.
6And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
7Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest.
MEMORY VERSE: “And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed” (2 Kings 4:6).
Message
God works in wondrous ways and can miraculously meet the needs of His children. A widow in distress sought help from Elisha because her late husband left debts, and creditors were coming to take her sons into slavery in lieu of payment. Elisha asked, “What do you have in your house?” She had only a small jar of oil, yet through her obedience and faith in the word of God, God multiplied it until she had enough to sell, pay her debt, and live on the rest (2 Kings 4:1-7).
What you have, no matter how small, can be used by God to bless you abundantly. A boy’s lunch fed thousands (John 6:9-13), David’s sling defeated a giant (1 Samuel 17:49-50), and a widow’s small jar of oil miraculously filled many empty jars (2 Kings 4:2-7). Sometimes, we overlook the gifts, ideas, or resources God has given us, thinking they are too small to matter. Your little academic knowledge can be expanded if presented to the Lord in prayer. Instead of despising the little God has given you now, pray for its expansion.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Dear Heavenly Father, expand Your grace upon my life.
CHALLENGE
Nothing is little in God’s hands.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
