DCLM DAILY MANNA 10 MAY 2021 — FAITH IN GOD’S GOODNESS
TOPIC: Faith In God’s Goodness (DCLM Daily Manna 10 May 2021)
TEXT: Psalm 92:1-15
1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,
3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.
4 For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
5 O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
6 A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.
7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:
8 But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.
9 For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.
12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
15 To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
KEY VERSE: “Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing.” – (Psalm 92:13,14)
MESSAGE:
In this Psalm, the Lord addresses troubling issues that man has contended with over the centuries. How come the wicked flourish and spring up like the grass? Why do they rise up against the righteous? Will the Lord not hold the enemies of the gospel in check and stop them from disturbing the peace of His people? These questions were of much concern to the psalmist as they were in the day of God-fearing Job, who sought to know why he suffered.

In the first three verses the psalmist, ahead of hearing from heaven with regard to his worries, showers praises on God “upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.” Entering the presence of the Lord with praises, he is made to understand deep truths about the seemingly prosperous ungodly people. The wealth they worship will not take them to heaven, if they do not turn to God. “They shall be destroyed for ever.”
How about those who aim for the riches of heaven and not of this earth? God’s justice system will exalt their “horn like the horn of an unicorn”. This is symbolic of power and royalty. The Psalmist goes for more emblems of blessedness to show what awaits the unyielding believer. He will prosper like a palm tree and possess the strength of a cedar wood. He will also be fruitful in old age, a rare feat for worldly senior citizens.
The believer who has left the world and its riches behind must not be drawn back when he sees glittering gold beckoning on him. Such will not take him into the kingdom of God. God’s inestimable riches are not for those greedy for earthly wealth, fame and power. They are strictly for those waiting patiently and righteously for the Son of God to come and take them to heaven.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
