DCLM Higher Everyday  30 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Keep Moving Forward

Topic: Keep Moving Forward

Bible Reading: Philippians 3:12-14 (KJV)

12Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

MEMORY VERSE: “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).

Message

Alexander the Great was 20 years old when he took over his father’s kingdom. He pressed on to quell a rebellion and established himself as king. He invaded what is now known as Turkey under the Persian Empire. He defeated the Persians and took back all the lands Greece had lost to them years before and brought Greece to her former glory. The great Emperor moved on to defeat king Darius, captured his family and sent him on exile. He captured Babylon the great as well as Egypt and ruled over the whole Mediterranean. Never satisfied, he also pressed on and captured India.

Apostle Paul ranks the greatest among the apostles that ever lived (2 Corinthians 11:22-33). He achieved that by application of faith and a positive mental attitude to move on despite the numerous challenges he faced. He was humble, persevering and passionate about achieving greater things for the Master. God wants His children to be excellent in all they do, including academics. Climb your success ladder by starting with Christ as your Lord and Saviour and press on.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Oh God, help me to move forward despite challenges

CHALLENGE

Do not allow setbacks to hinder you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
