24Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.

25And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.

26This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.

27TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.

KEY VERSE: “ Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting” Daniel 5:27

Message

Tekel” is one of the mysterious words written by the hand of God on the wall during King Belshazzar’s feast. It means “weighed in the balances and found wanting.” Belshazzar, the king of Babylon, threw a great banquet for his nobles, he took the holy vessels from God’s temple and used them to drink wine and worship false gods, this act of disregard for holy things and arrogance brought God’s judgment. Suddenly, a supernatural hand appeared and wrote on the wall. The king was terrified and called for astrologers and wise men, but none could interpret the message. Daniel was brought in, and through divine wisdom, he interpreted the words.

The spiritual lessons from this show that, God weighs our lives, just as Belshazzar was weighed, every human being is being weighed by God. The scale being used by God is not based on human opinion, but on His righteousness and truth. Many people today are found wanting because of pride, self, stubbornness, and all forms of evil. The way out is to repent. Tekel is a warning to all of us! God is weighing our lives, our choices, and our hearts. Will you be found righteous or found wanting? Spend time to examine yourself and pray

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, I surrender my life to You. Weigh me in Your balance, and if I am found wanting, cleanse me with Your blood.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
