Bible Reading: 1 Kings 4:29-34 (KJV)
29And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.
31For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.
32And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.
33And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.
34And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.
KEY VERSE: And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.” 1 King 4:30
Message
Attaining excellence refers to achieving a high level of skill or mastery in a particular field or endeavour. It implies surpassing average or ordinary standards to reach exceptional levels of accomplishment. Excellence means greatness – the very best. Achieving excellence is never easy to do. Excellence is a quality that people really appreciate, because it is very hard to find. Excellence is the quality of excelling, of being truly the best at something. Getting an A+ shows excellence.

We see an example of excellence in King Solomon, he was the wisest on the earth during his time because he desired excellence and he got it. Daniel was ten times better than all his peers because an excellent spirit was found in him.
An excellent child is consistent in his personal, social, and spiritual life. If you are dishonest, greedy, lazy, untidy, disrespectful or selfish it will reflect or can affect your career, life and spiritual growth. As Ecclesiastes 9:10a says,“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to, do it with thy might.” Having a spirit of excellence means giving your best – with your heart, soul and mind – For the glory of God!
Lord, help me to attain the height of excellence, that You desire for me

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
