DCLM Sincere Milk  3 June 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — One Sinner Destroys

Topic: One Sinner Destroys

Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 9:16-18 (KJV)

16Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

17The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.

18Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.

KEY VERSE: “Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.” Ecclesiastes 9:18

Message

The story of Achan is one example in the Bible that reveals to us the great destruction one sinner, one ungodly person can bring on a family and even a whole nation. His sinful plan was not known to anybody. He committed the sin in the secret. No one in the nation of Israel knew about it. Yet, when the defeat and death as a result of Achan’s sin came, Joshua, the leader and all Israel suffered.

David, the king sinned alone by numbering Israel against God’s instruction, yet thousands of Israelites died of the plague. Judas Iscariot was one among the twelve, yet his covetousness led to the betrayal and death of the Lord. Whether the one sinner is an ordinary person, king or disciple, his or her sin will surely destroy much good. Godly wisdom should teach you that good and blessing can never come as a result of sin. When you turn away from evil, you do not only save yourself from the destruction of hell, you also save those around you from punishment as the result of your good deeds.

In your family, at school and in the church you will not be the sinner, the tool in the hand of Satan to destroy what is good, but rather you will be that good boy or girl, God will use as a channel of blessing to all around you. Say Amen!

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, please, save me from sin and help me to be a blessing to myself and those around me.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
