DCLM Higher Everyday 6 June 2026 — It Is God’s Battle, Not Yours
Topic: It Is God’s Battle, Not Yours
Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 20:13-20 (KJV)
13And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
15And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
16To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
17Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.
18And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.
19And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
20And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
KEY VERSE: And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, thus saith the LORD unto you, be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15).
Message
At a time, King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah faced a formidable enemy for battle. They were terrified and felt powerless against the great coalition of three national armies approaching them. In their despair, they sought the Lord’s guidance through prayer and fasting. God responded through His Prophet Jahaziel, assuring them they needed not fear because the battle was His, not theirs. Encouraged by God’s promise, they went to the battlefield, not with weapons, but with songs of praise. Miraculously, God caused confusion among their enemies, making them to fight against one another. Judah emerged victorious without lifting a single weapon.
Similarly, in a small-town school, a student named David faced constant bullying from a group of classmates. Despite his efforts to avoid conflict, the bullying persisted, making school life unbearable. Instead of retaliating, David turned to prayer for victory. One day, the school principal intervened, having noticed the situation. The bullies were disciplined, and David found peace. David realized that, like Jehoshaphat, he needed to trust God to fight his battles. You too can do same and have daily successes.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, help me to rely on Your strength for my battles.
CHALLENGE
Trust God with your challenges and victory is yours.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
