Bible Reading: 2 Timothy 3:14-17 (KJV)
14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
KEY VERSE: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Message
The third President of the United States of America, Thomas Jefferson, stated that, “I have always said, and always will say, that the studious perusal of the sacred volume will make better citizens, better fathers, and better husbands.” Everybody can benefit from the Scriptures. The Scripture is also known as the Word of God and popularly called the ‘Holy Bible’. It consists of sixty-six (66) books in all; thirty-seven (37) in the Old Testament and twenty-nine (29) in the New Testament. Holy men of God wrote the Scripture by the inspiration of God.
When you read the Scripture and apply it to your life and any situation confronting you, there is always a positive outcome. The word of God guides us into all truth and illuminates our path. Application of the word of God makes us successful in life and career. It helps us not to sin against God. No wonder the Psalmist recounts in Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” From today and always, let the Scripture be your compass.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
My God, help me to daily benefit from Your word, in Jesus’ name.
CHALLENGE
The Scripture is sacred; treat as such.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
