1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
KEY VERSE: “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.” Acts 2:2
Message
The rushing mighty wind of Pentecost represents the powerful move of the Holy Spirit. It was not just a natural wind but a supernatural manifestation of God’s presence through the Baptism in the Holy Ghost. The disciples were gathered in unity, waiting as Jesus had commanded them. Suddenly, heaven opened, and the power of God was released upon them.
They all received tongues of fire and began to do exploits for God. When the Holy Spirit moves like a rushing mighty wind, He sweeps away spiritual dullness and backwardness, ignites fresh fire in our hearts, and empowers us for divine assignments.
Fear is replaced with boldness, weakness with strength, and confusion with clarity. The wind of God does not come to leave us the same way it met us. it comes to change us completely. Today, we need the rushing mighty wind more than ever.
The church needs revival, children should be the carrier of revival because of the need to influence the world. If we make ourselves available through prayer, unity, and expectation, the same wind that blew on the day of Pentecost will move again in our lives and fellowship.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, let Your rushing mighty wind fill my life today.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
