DCLM Higher Everyday 25 October 2026 — The True Overcomers
Topic: The True Overcomers
Bible Reading: 1 John 4:1-5 (KJV)
1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
KEY VERSE: “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
Message
Joni Erickson Tada was an active young woman until a diving accident in 1967 left her paralysed at 17. Instead of giving up, she turned to Christ. She learned to paint using her mouth, wrote bestselling books, and founded Joni and Friends, a ministry dedicated to serving people with disabilities. Her life proves that God can use any challenge for His glory. Our memory verse reminds us that victory comes from Christ, not our strength. “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).
Challenges to a child of God are stepping stones to greatness in life. Facing challenges with absolute faith in Christ is the panacea to every seeming life obstacle. You will get to the other side in Jesus’ name. Many voices may try to mislead in times of trials, but true believers stand firm in Christ, the ultimate Anchor that keeps our souls. Like Joni, trust that God in you is greater than any limitation life may present to you.
Oh Lord, give me the grace to rely on You for daily victory.
Rely on God’s power to overcome life’s battles?
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
