DCLM Higher Everyday 3 November 2026 — What Is Your Worth?
Topic: What Is Your Worth?
Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 3:2-15 (KJV)
2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
4For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?
5Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
6I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.
10According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
13Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
15If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
KEY VERSE: “Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is” (1 Corinthians 3:13)
Message
We live in a world that constantly tells us to measure our worth by our achievements, possessions and appearance. It’s easy to get lost in all these. Our true worth is not found in anything we do or have; instead, it is found in Christ, our hope of glory.
Christ’s transformative power changes our direction and goal in life. Outside of Him, our lives are worthless. Once our needs are met, we care less about others because we are unsaved, unregenerate, and therefore selfish.
However, with Jesus in us, we live selfless lives, thinking of God’s glory and the good of others. As such, we don’t need external validations from others. Paul reminds us that our worth is measured by our walk with and work for God. What value are you adding to the lives of people around you? Ask God for the grace to be valuable and relevant, so that others can see Jesus in you.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, help me to live for Your glory alone, in Jesus’ name.
CHALLENGE
Walk with and work for God.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
