DCLM Sincere Milk 6 November 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — In God’S Image
Topic: In God’S Image
Bible Reading: Genesis 1:24-28 (KJV)
24And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
KEY VERSE: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Genesis 1:27
Message
Every human being on earth looks the same but different. For example, we have a nose but they are different shapes, some are pointed while some are flat. We have skin but some are light while some are dark.
Even though we look different because of certain features, the Bible says that all human beings are made in God’s image and likeness. This means that like a mirror, we reflect who God is. When you look into a mirror, you see your exact image. The way that God created humans is a reflection of what God looks like. It is not physical reflection but our spiritual life and character.
God created Adam differently from all other things He has created. While other things like ocean, seas, mountains and animals were spoken into existence, God specially made man with His hands. He breathed the breath of life into his nostrils and he became a living being. We are different because we are made in the image of God. God is love, we must reflect His character of love, God is holy all through, we too must be holy. The reason God created us in His image is to be like Him in our nature and character. You must therefore examine your life. Are you living like a person made in God’s image? You can make a firm decision right from now that you will turn from the old nature of sin and put on the new nature of Christ. Let your language, thoughts and life show that you are the image of God.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, I thank You for making me special.
FURTHER READING
Psalm 139:14
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
