Topic: Fact Check Before Forwarding

Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 (KJV)

19Quench not the Spirit.

20Despise not prophesyings.

21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

22Abstain from all appearance of evil.

KEY VERSE: “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

Message

Fact-finding is a fundamental skill required of committed believers to clarify doctrinal issues that are unclear or disputed. The Christian faith often faces the challenges of doctrinal errors being peddled by false preachers and their gullible followers. Social media is abuzz with all manner of false doctrines and ungodly practices today, and it takes a discerning believer to navigate the storms posed by this trend.

Christian youths are enjoined to engage in an extensive fact-finding process by consulting experienced men of God, reading the Bible and praying to God for clear direction. Be careful about some so-called interdenominational worship that is satanic or contravenes the clear teaching of the Bible in your school fellowship or community.

The Bible commands all true believers to prove all things to avoid falling into the pit of error. Be like the Berean Christians of the early church, who always read their Bibles to ensure no one misled them. Christ gives His true followers the Spirit of truth, who will guide them into all the truths of the Bible.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, help me to prove all things to avoid error in my life.

CHALLENGE

Unravel the doctrinal issue that is unclear or disputed.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
