DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 22 NOVEMBER 2021 — Noah’s Grace
DCLM Higher Everyday 22 November 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Noah’s Grace
TOPIC: NOAH’S GRACE
TEXT: GENESIS 6:1-8
1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
MEMORY VERSE: “And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD” (GENESIS 6:7, 8).
MESSAGE:
A. W. Tozer stated that, “Abounding sin is the terror of the world, but abounding grace is the hope of mankind.”
Noah and family found grace in the sight of the Lord, and were spared in the Great Flood that destroyed the world as a result of sin. Noah was chosen for grace because he was righteous and walked with God.
God decided to destroy all flesh because He “…saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5). But Noah was exempted from this destruction because he was different.
If you must attract the grace of God, you have to emulate Noah, who was not wicked, corrupt, or violent. You must behave like Noah, who like his ancestor Enoch, had faith, walked with God, and did not live a rebellious life against God.
Strive to be righteous and perfect in your generation. Do not reject the opportunity to be forgiven and declared righteous by God, through faith in Christ’s atonement.
QUOTE: Strive to be righteous.
CHALLENGE: To receive the grace of God, you must be righteous and perfect.
PRAYER: Almighty God, give me Noah’s type of heart.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
