BIBLE TEXT: PROVERBS 6:9-11
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
KEY VERSE: “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep” (Proverbs 6:10).
MESSAGE:
Jenny was in the kitchen and watched as her mom was preparing supper. She noticed her mom added just a little quantity of salt to the food she was cooking, and wondered if the little quantity would be enough. “Will that salt be enough?” asked Jenny. “Of course, the little salt is enough to sweeten the food”, replied her mom.
There is power in little and small things. A tiny seed planted today would later grow to become a very big tree. Continue with the good things you are doing no matter how little it looks now.
Be kind to others, do your homework and house chores at the right time and tell someone about the love of Jesus. Spend some time to read your Bible and pray to God every day to help you to continue to love and obey Jesus.
It was just one stone from David’s sling that sank into the forehead of Goliath and killed the giant. Do not engage in lying, laziness, pride, disobedience or any type of sin, no matter how little it is. Just one sin that is not repented of is enough to send anyone to hell.
PRAYER: Dear Father, please help me to continue to love and obey you in Jesus’ Name.
FURTHER READING: 1 Samuel 17:49-51
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
