DCLM Sincere Milk 21 April 2024 — Sing Praises to our God

DCLM Sincere Milk  21 April 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiSing Praises to our God

Topic: Sing Praises to our God

Text: Psalm 47:1-9

1(To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.) O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

2For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

3He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

4He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

5God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.

6Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.

7For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

8God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.

9The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.

Key Verse: “He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.” Psalm 47:3

Message

God is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. He is the Almighty. He is awesome, full of majesty and glory and worthy of our praises and adoration. The psalmist realized this and always praised God. He also wrote many psalms (songs of praise) in adoration of God which we are reading today. We can sing praises to God by clapping our hands, singing hymns and choruses and raising our voices in adoration. We must sing God’s praises with the understanding that He alone is worthy to receive them. Kings of the earth love it when their subjects praise them; they then promise and give them good things. How much then do we receive from our heavenly Father Who is rich in all things both in heaven and on earth.

Paul and Silas found themselves in prison for preaching the gospel. Instead of being in sorrow, they lifted up their voices and sang praises to the most high God. Their chains were loosed and God was glorified. Remember the price Christ paid for your redemption, the mercy of God surrounding your life, provision for all needs and the hope of getting to heaven to live with God and Jesus forever. Let this make you praise God endlessly.

Prayer for today: Lord, I praise You from the depth of my heart.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
