DCLM Sincere Milk 27 September 2022 — I will not sin against God
DCLM Sincere Milk 27 September 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — I will not sin against God
TOPIC: I WILL NOT SIN AGAINST GOD!
TEXT: GENESIS 39:7-12
8But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;
9There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
10And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
11And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.
12And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
Key Verse: “There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:9).
Sin is bad and dangerous. It is the manifestation of Satan’s nature in man, and it is the consequence of man’s separation from his Creator. Sin made God to drive Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. Sin brings troubles and all sorts of evil upon man in this world, but ultimately, any sinner who refuses to repent of his or her sins will end up in hell fire.
In the Bible passage we read today, Joseph refused and rejected his master Potiphar’s wife request to do bad things with her. He knew quite well that doing that would make him betray Potiphar who so much loved and trusted him. He also recognized that sin is wickedness against God. He said, ‘No’ not minding what it would cost him.

Every believer must love and fear God like Joseph, and run away from acts of wickedness against God and others. Temptation to sin can come through anybody, particularly those you respect much. You must not yield because yielding to temptation is sin. If you yield, you will lose God’s favour and presence.
Read and meditate on the word of God and pray daily. Run away from people, things or places that can make you to sin. Rely on God’s grace to see you through your Christian journey. Make up your mind not to sin against God and He will promote you and make you successful in life.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to overcome every suggestion to sin against You so I can live a victorious life.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
