DCLM Sincere Milk 4 October 2022 — God hates pride
DCLM Sincere Milk 4 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God hates pride
TOPIC: GOD HATES PRIDE
TEXT: PROVERBS 16:18-21
18Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
19Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.
21The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
Key Verse: “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18).
MESSAGE:
God is holy, therefore, He hates anything that is bad especially pride. The proud is a child who forgets that God is the Architect of his life, and allows Satan to rule in his life. He is satisfied with and full of himself.
He thinks that all he has or has achieved academically, in sports or other areas of life is by his own effort and power, not giving glory and honour to God. He looks down on other children as if they are not human beings like himself. Because of these traits in his life, God is not happy with him.
Boys and girls must remember that Satan was once Lucifer, the Morning Star in heaven. He became proud, wanting to be like God. God punished him by sending him out of heaven, and hell fire has been reserved for him. His aim is to take many people with him to hell fire. Do not be proud even though your family is wealthy and well-known in the society.

In the Bible, King Nebuchadnezzar lived like an animal for seven years because he was proud. King Herod was eaten up by worms and died because of pride.
You can change your situation as you humble yourself before God, confessing your sins of pride and asking for forgiveness and cleansing in Jesus’ blood. Then ask Jesus, the meek and lowly in heart to come into your heart as your Saviour and Lord. He will give you His grace, and the Holy Spirit will help you to be humble. Pray right now.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I repent of my pride. Be merciful to me, forgive me and give me grace to be humble.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
