DCLM Sincere Milk 15 December 2022 — A Faithful Son

DCLM Sincere Milk 15 December 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — A Faithful Son

TOPIC: A FAITHFUL SON

1 CORINTHIANS 4:16-20

16Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

17For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

18Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.

19But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.

20For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

KEY VERSE: “For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church” (1 Corinthians 4:17).

MESSAGE:

Timothy was the son of Eunice, and his grandmother was Lois. Though Timothy believed in the Lord before Apostle Paul met him, Paul adopted him as his son in the faith. There was no complaint from Paul against Timothy. The testimony of Paul concerning him was “my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord”. Timothy was a faithful son indeed!

By definition, faithfulness means to be truthful, honest, correct, loyal, reliable and dependable. It is the quality of showing a great sense of responsibility. Examples of those who were faithful in the Bible are Moses, Hanani, Daniel, Onesimus and the apostles.

God expects every child to be faithful in everything. It is therefore important that every duty given to you in the school, home or in the fellowship be done faithfully. Unfaithfulness to God in small or great things attracts His displeasure, discipline and demotion.

Some of the areas God expects faithfulness from you are: observing personal fellowship with Him, obeying the word of God, winning souls to the Lord, obeying your parents, doing school work regularly, etc. As you examine yourself in the word of God today and see where you are not faithful, you must pray and promise Him to be faithful in all areas of your life.

PRAYER: My God and my Lord, help me to be faithful in all I do.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
