TOPIC: A FEARFUL THING

TEXT: HEBREWS 10:30-32

30For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;

MEMORY VERSE: “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (HEBREWS 10:31).

MESSAGE:

William Pope who had known the love of the Saviour but later backslid after the death of his wife was heard saying on his sick bed: “No case is comparable to mine. I cannot repent. God will damn me forever. I know the day of grace is gone… Oh the hell, the torment, the fire that I feel within me. Oh, eternity, eternity, to dwell forever with devils, the damned spirits in the burning lake must be my portion, and that justly.” With these words, he died.

Indeed, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God and because of the horror of hell, no youth should go there. To escape God’s fearful judgment, every youth must embrace the mercy of God by taking these simple steps:

(i) Acknowledge your sins and unbelief before God.

(ii) Repent of your sins by humbly confessing and forsaking them.

(iii) Believe in the atoning sacrifice of Christ for your salvation.

(iv) Invite Christ into your heart by accepting Him as your Saviour and only Lord (Revelation 3:20; John 1:12).

QUOTE: Repent of your sins.

CHALLENGE: The Lord shall judge His people.

PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from the horror of hell fire.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
