Topic: A Narrow Escape
Text: 2Chronicles 18:31-34
31And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
33And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn thine hand, that thou mayest carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.
34And the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died.
Key Verse: “And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.” 2 Chronicles 18:31
Message
King Jehoshaphat learnt a bitter lesson about the danger of bad company. His friend, King Ahab deceived him to wear his royal robe to the war front. The enemies were only after the life of the king of Israel who had disguised himself. Jehoshaphat who wore his royal garment became the target of the enemy soldiers. It was a scary moment for King Jehoshaphat.

Sinners are evil and dangerous. We should be as wise as a serpent and as harmless as a dove in the world. But for God’s intervention, the Syrian army would have attacked and killed him. He was completely ignorant of the plan of the wicked and dubious King Ahab. The Lord will continue to preserve and protect you from evil as you separate yourself from the evil in the world and serve Him faithfully.

Prayer for today: Lord, please protect me from the evil plan of the enemies.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
