TOPIC: A SECRET?

TEXT: JEREMIAH 16:14-18

14Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

15But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.

16Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

17For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.

18And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.

Key Verse: “For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes” (Jeremiah 16:17).

MESSAGE:
The things we count as secret are open before God. “Nobody saw me, nobody would know I was the one who stole it.” This was the thought going through Famous’ mind when he left the classroom after stealing the money Mrs. Gerrald kept in her bag.

Famous stole the money during break-time when there was no one in the class. Unknown to him, there was a CCTV camera that recorded things that happened in the class, whether someone was around or not. Famous was later caught and punished.

God is greater than man, He is Omniscient. He knows everybody and everything we do, whether in the open or in the secret. Nothing can be hidden from Him. Have you repented of the sins you committed? Sin committed in the secret is known to God, even if nobody knows about it.

Don’t be like Achan who stole silver, Babylonish garment, and gold, and hid them in his tent. He possibly thought nobody would get to know. His sins were discovered, and judgment and punishment came on him and on his family members. Don’t wait for God’s punishment. Repent of all your sins now and never go back to them.

Prayer: Dear Lord, cleanse me and help me to live each day in obedience to You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
