DCLM Higher Everyday 27 DECEMBER 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi —Accelerate Action
TOPIC: ACCELERATE ACTION
BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 9:1-7
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
MEMORY VERSE: “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” (JOHN 9:4).
MESSAGE
“Everyone who is ever used by God labours and works diligently in His service. He is always on the alert lest he squandered his time or strength. Those who are always looking for opportunity for rest and recreation are not worthy of being called God’s servants,” said Watchman Nee. Reading through Matthew Henry’s Commentary, you would think that it took a century to write; but the author did not even live up to 60 years. One could say similar things of the prolific Christian writer and preacher, C. H. Spurgeon. They laboured in the Christian ministry diligently.

Apostle Paul, who preached all over Asia and wrote about half of the books of the New Testament stated, “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord” (Romans 12:11). You would work with a sense of urgency like Christ in our text above if you had a vision that has become a consuming passion. Education, career and Christian service are areas of vision and passion. As God’s child, pray for guidance and labour diligently to fulfill your destiny. Without haste, visions are wasted.

QUOTE: Without haste, visions are wasted.
CHALLENGE: Take a leap of faith.
PRAYER: Lord, empower me to fulfill my destiny.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
