DCLM Sincere Milk  9 November 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — All For You!

Topic: All For You!

Text: Matthew 27:27-37

27Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.

28And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.

29And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

30And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.

31And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

32And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.

33And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,

34They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

35And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

36And sitting down they watched him there;

37And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Key Verse: “They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.” Matthew 27:34

Message

Jesus Christ came from heaven to this wicked world and lived with us. He saw the spiritual condition of every human being; it was a pitiful state. Jesus decided to help us. First, He healed the sick, set the captives free, delivered the oppressed, provided bread and fish for the hungry and taught the way to live a good life. Secondly, He paid the price for our sins so that we should not perish. All that was done to Jesus Christ was what we were supposed to receive as punishments for our sins, but Jesus suffered it all.

He was mocked, stripped of his clothes, they put a crown of thorns on His head, they beat Him, spat at Him, gave Him vinegar to drink mixed with gall (a very bitter drink) and finally, they killed Him. All for YOU! Now Jesus Christ wants to be the King over your life. Will you accept Him or send Him away? Jesus Christ is only allowed to rule over your life if you turn away from what He hates and invite Him into your heart to be your personal Saviour and Lord. What is your decision?

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, give me the heart to recognize and appreciate Your love for me and turn the whole of my life to You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
