DCLM Higher Everyday 6 January 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — An Absolute King’s Admission

TOPIC: AN ABSOLUTE KING’S ADMISSION

TEXT: EXODUS 9:25-37

25 And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.

26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.

27 And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.

28 Intreat the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.

29 And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou mayest know how that the earth is the LORD’S.

30 But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the LORD God.

31 And the flax and the barley was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was bolled.

32 But the wheat and the rie were not smitten: for they were not grown up.

33 And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the LORD: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.

34 And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.

35 And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses.

MEMORY VERSE: “And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked” (EXODUS 9:27).

Our text today reveals the plague that befell the Egyptians as a result of the hardness of the heart of pharaoh who was the king in Egypt at that time. His ungodly and selfish decision brought suffering to the Egyptians. Pharaoh admitted his sinfulness when he realized God’s faithful judgment. However, he failed to yield himself fully to God to obtain full pardon.

You should not wait for the wrath of God before repenting genuinely of your sinful lifestyle. God will always forgive as many as acknowledge and admit their sinful states; and confess their sin, pleading for pardon.

As God preserved the children of Israel in the midst of the plague, He will always protect youths who are holy and righteous. The challenge is for you to admit your sinfulness today and accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour. He is not willing that you should perish in hell!

QUOTE: He is not willing that you should perish.

CHALLENGE: Do not dare God.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to honour You with my Life

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
