DCLM Sincere Milk 20 September 2023 — Asking According To His Will

DCLM Sincere Milk  20 September 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Asking According To His Will

Topic: Asking According To His Will

Text: 1 John 5:11- 15

11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

14And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

15And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Key Verse: “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:” 1 John 5:14

Message

Jane was at the back of their house playing’ with her friend Martha. She told Martha of the wrist watch her dad promised to buy for her and was sure that he would buy it. Suddenly, she got a call from her mom that her dad had arrived from work. She quickly left her friend and ran to meet her dad who was waiting to receive her with open arms. Jane immediately asked her dad for her gift. He handed over the beautiful wrist watch to her. Jane was full of joy as she ran to show her friend the new gift.

The story of Jane teaches us a lesson that whatsoever we ask of God in the name of Jesus Christ we will receive, if it is according to His will and it is done in faith. There are requests that are not according to the will of God, like asking God to kill your neighbour or praying that your classmate should fail or go to hell. God will not answer that kind of prayer. He only answers prayers that are according to His will.

Therefore, you have all the power in your hands today to ask all the good things you desire from God. He will surely grant your request. Remember, you must ask in faith, which means, you trust Him that He will answer your prayers.

Prayer for today: Father, answer my request as I ask according to your will.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
