DCLM Sincere Milk 12 October 2022 — Asking for divine guidance
DCLM Sincere Milk 12 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Asking for divine guidance
TOPIC: ASKING FOR DIVINE GUIDANCE
TEXT: JEREMIAH 10:23-25
24O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
25Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.
Key Verse: “O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps” (Jeremiah 10:23).
MESSAGE:
God is the maker of all things, including human beings. He made man in His own image and gave him dominion and authority over all other creatures. God also gave man freedom to do many things, and also make free-will choices.
However, God still wants us to consult Him whenever we want to make choices in life. Do you know the reason? God is Omniscient. He is the only one that knows all things and there is nothing hidden before Him.
The Bible confirms this in Isaiah 46:10, “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure”. We are privileged to have the all-knowing God as our Father and our Guide.

How do you go about making your choices or taking decisions in life? Do you do what you like or follow the choices made from your heart? Do you make your friends your counsellors and advisers? Remember that the Bible says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12).
There is a need for us to allow God to guide and direct us in all we do in life so that we will not fall or stumble. You must always seek God’s counsel through sincere prayers, reading and meditating on God’s word.
Prayer: Lord, help me to always rely on your guidance so that I will not stumble in life.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
