DCLM Sincere Milk 28 September 2022 — Avoid ungodly influence
DCLM Sincere Milk 28 September 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Avoid ungodly influence
TOPIC: AVOID UNGODLY INFLUENCE
TEXT: JOSHUA 16:5-10
6And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah;
7And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan.
8The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.
9And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.
10And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.
Key Verse: “And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute” (Joshua 16:10).
MESSAGE:
There are many things that can destroy one’s future or destiny; evil association is definitely a major factor. Your future or destiny can be put at risk or seriously endangered when you mix-up with the wrong people.
God creates every person for a purpose. He also saves us for the purpose of serving Him and to glorify Him. Several people are not living to glorify God; rather, they engage in all sorts of evils and wickedness.
The tribe of Ephraim refused to drive away the Canaanites from their midst in line with God’s command. The Canaanites were idol worshippers who were also evil and dangerous. These Canaanites became a major problem for Israel later in life. They influenced them to forsake God and to serve idols.

What is that sin or habit that you are finding so difficult to let go from your life? If you hold on to them, they can become traps unto you and will eventually destroy you and your future. As believers, we should always keep and guard our salvation jealously and run away from people and associations that can hinder our progress.
Prayer: O God, help me to always run away from things and people who can destroy my future and testimony.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
