BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 21:1-10

1 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.

2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.

3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.

8 And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.

9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.

MEMORY VERSE: “Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing” (JOHN 21:3).

MESSAGE:

A Nigerian journalist Kayode Oladeji, recounting the commitment of Reinhard Bonnke to Africa, submitted that “Bonnke had a heart for Africa and for Africans. He really loved Africans and, as such, Bonnke chose the continent of the Black people as a focal point of his evangelical campaigns.” Reinhard Bonnke devoted his life to evangelizing Africa without looking back. He was committed to this call until his death recently, shortly after his heroic farewell crusade in Lagos, Nigeria.

Peter, the apostle, who was called by the Lord, drifted back to the business of fishing at the expense of the assignment of saving souls given to him by the Lord. That night, Peter and the team he led to the fishing business caught nothing. The lesson to draw from the experience of Peter and his team is that we need to always be where we ought to be serving the Lord. Have you drifted from serving the Lord because you have shifted all your attention from Him to the mundane things? God deserves your service at all times because without Him, you can do nothing.

QUOTE: God deserves your service.

CHALLENGE: Serve the Lord with all diligence.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to always be where I can serve You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
