DCLM Higher Everyday 6 March 2025 — Bearing Your People’s Burden
DCLM Higher Everyday 6 March 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Bearing Your People’s Burden
Topic: Bearing Your People’s Burden
Text: Romans 9:1-5
1I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,
2That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.
3For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
4Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;
5Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
Key Verse: “I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart” (Romans 9:1-2).
Message
The type writer (machine) was invented in 1867 by Christopher Sholes as a means to help his pastor fast-write his Sunday messages in the face of the pastor’s complex schedule. Christopher’s first typed words before his friends were in capital, “C. LATHAM SHOLES, Nov 1867.” The world owes so much ground-breaking technological developments to Christians. Similar exploits are expected in soul-saving through various media evangelical strategies coupled with prayer.

In today’s text Apostle Paul expresses his concern for fellow citizens who were religious without true holiness. His prayer was matched with labour to preach to Jews and Gentiles. The society of ignorant people is a tool for satanic manipulation of the world today. Sinners join themselves in cultism, immorality, fraud and wars to kill one another. Christ, the prince of peace, came in love to deliver humanity from sin and its consequences. He has delegated that duty to us. With burdened hearts, people, beginning from our immediate family members, churches, schools and business places can be saved. Genuine salvation comes through faith in Christ’s death and resurrection.
Quote: He has delegated that duty to us
Challenge: Can you see the multitude of sinners around you?
Prayer for today: Oh God, give me passion for lost souls, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
