DCLM Sincere Milk 18 December 2022 — Be a Blessing

DCLM Sincere Milk 18 December 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Be a Blessing

TOPIC: BE A BLESSING

TEXT: GENESIS 12:1-5

1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

4So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

5And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

Key Verse: “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2).

MESSAGE:

Everyone desires blessings, either spiritual, physical or material. It is God’s desire to bless all His children. All you need do is to trust God, serve Him in truth and holiness, and the door of His manifold blessings will be opened to you. However, you are not expected to keep all of God’s blessings to yourself alone. God wants you to be a source of blessing to others.

God called Abraham to follow Him, and he obeyed. This unquestionable obedience opened the door of blessings to Abraham. He then became a blessing to his immediate family, his community, those he came across as he journeyed through life, and eventually to the whole world. Now, we are still enjoying the blessings of Abraham.

In the same way, when a child becomes a friend of Jesus, he must understand that he is also called to be a channel of blessing to others. Jesus sets you free from sin and Satan so that He can use you to set others free too. Understand therefore that God saved you to bless you, but in addition, to make you a blessing to your parents, siblings, relations, sinners and others.

By your godly example, by your faith and trust in your Saviour, by your kind and caring lifestyle, by your words of love from Jesus and by your hope of eternal rest in heaven, you should be a blessing to all around you.

Prayer: Make me a channel of blessing to others. Lord, I pray.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
