TOPIC: Becoming Relevant [Open Heaven for Teens 1 March 2022]

MEMORISE: A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. Proverbs 22:1

READ: Genesis 26:13
And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:

MESSAGE

We live in times where economic, social and political changes occur steadily and this has raised concerns for young people who are agitated about their relevance in the nearest future.

For a child of God, this should not even bother you because the Bible says:

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

Thus, your relevance in this generation is certain so long as you focus on loving God more and doing His perfect will. A good way to become and remain relevant is to be excellent in whatever you do-be it education, career, vocation or skill, even in ministry. This will make people depend on you for guidance. In addition, you must be original in your thoughts, expressions and presentations. When people know that you have original ideas to offer, they will come to you.

Furthermore, have compassion, love people genuinely and care for them. These will endear them to you and help you remain relevant.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please help me to become relevant in my generation.

HYMN: Breathe On Me Breath Of God

  1. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
    fill me with life anew,
    that I may love what
    Thou dost love,

And do what Thou wouldst do.

  1. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
    Until my heart is pure,
Until with Thee I will one will,
    To do and to endure.
  2. Breathe on me, Breath of God;
    Till I am wholly Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
    Glows with Thy fire divine.
  3. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
    So shall I never die,
But live with Thee the perfect life
    Of Thine eternity.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Mark 8-16, Numbers 24-25

Daily Devotional for Teen’s guide was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, one of the largest evangelical church in the world and also the President of Christ the Redeemer’s Ministries.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
