Text: Psalm 119:65-72
65TETH. Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word.
66Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.
67Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
68Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.
69The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.
70Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.
71It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
72The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

Message
Silver and gold simply refer to money. Money is the resource used as a means of buying goods and services. It is a means of exchange or payment for what we received. With money, we pay our school fees, buy books, and do other things that are necessary for our wellbeing.
However, our key verse says that the Word of God is better, much more important and useful than thousands of gold and silver. The reasons are: (i) Money cannot buy salvation of your soul. It is only the blood of Jesus Who was crucified on the cross of Calvary that can purchase salvation for us. (ii) Money cannot buy supernatural healing, health and deliverance. (iii) Money cannot deliver from evil. (iv) Money cannot buy spiritual power and the gifts of the Holy Ghost. The gifts of God are free. (v) Money cannot take you to heaven, but the Word of God abiding in your heart will do it.

For these reasons, it is better to pursue and possess the word of God than to pursue money. Therefore, prefer to seek the word of God more than pursuing money and the things of the world, set your affection on things above.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to count Your word more important than silver and gold.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
