TOPIC: UNBROKEN TRUST

TEXT: DANIEL 9:1-4

1In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;

2In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

3And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:

4And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

Key Verse: “And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession…” (Daniel 9:4).

MESSAGE:
Daniel put his trust in the God of Israel from a very tender age. He was a youth when he was taken to Babylon. The first challenge he faced in Babylon was that of being served food offered to the idol of Babylon. To the glory of his God, he refused to eat such food.

At the time he was saying this prayer in our Bible passage, he was an old man already. Yet, there was no single day of broken relationship with God. God loved him and trusted him to do what was right. He never disappointed the Lord one day. He was among a very few people in the Bible who was loved and favoured by God. The king of Babylon referred to him as the servant of the Most High God. God saved him from the lions to show His love to His beloved servant.

Daniel maintained unbroken trust in the God of Israel all the years of his life on earth. What a faithful friend of the Almighty God. Make Daniel your example. Love Jesus now that you are a child and continue to love Him till your old age; until you meet Him in heaven. It takes purpose of mind to love and serve Jesus. It takes a prayerful life to trust Jesus. Make up your mind that you will trust and love your Saviour always.

Prayer: Lord, teach my heart to love and trust You no matter the pain I will suffer.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
