Topic: Bible Kidz – Josiah

Text: 2 Kings 22:1-5

1Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.

2And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

3And it came to pass in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of the LORD, saying,

4Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:

5And let them deliver it into the hand of the doers of the work, that have the oversight of the house of the LORD: and let them give it to the doers of the work which is in the house of the LORD, to repair the breaches of the house,

Key Verse: “And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.” 2 Kings 22:2

Message

Josiah means “God supports and heals.” Josiah’s birth was foretold long before he was born (1 Kings 13:1,2). He was a descendant of David. He was only eight years old when he became the king of Judah. Judah had been committed to idol worship for about seventy (70) years before Josiah was born. He fulfilled the purpose of his birth by stopping idol worship in Judah. Although he was born of a father who did evil in the sight of God, yet he lived a godly life before God. He led his people to repentance and back to true worship of Almighty God. One wonders how Josiah was able to live a godly life as a little boy in a country where almost all the people were committed to all sorts of evil practices and idol worship. Josiah was-
Just and righteous
Obedient to God’s word
Selfless in carrying out his God-given assignment
In right relationship with God
An agent of revival of true worship
Holy and humble.

God has good plans for you personally. Commitment to live a righteous life will make them come to pass. Build your personal relationship with God to be so strong so that you can influence people in your generation to get back to God.

Prayer for today:  Lord, please help me to be in true friendship and obedience to You even when others forsake You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
