KEY VERSE: “Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise)” (Ephesians 6:2).

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

At the time Apostle Paul wrote his circular epistle to the brethren in Ephesus, he was a prisoner in Rome. Under house arrest, he did not allow bitterness or distractions deter him from continuing to do the Lord’s work. This particular epistle reflected the chief characteristics expected of a stout believer going through adversity. Paul was loving and focused, determined to teach that there must be love and healthy relationship in a Christian home.

Paul says in our text that our faith in Jesus must prove itself first at home. Everyone has a responsibility to each other. The children must obey their parents in the Lord, and in the flesh, even if they appear to be demanding. Paul takes the children to God’s promise that He would honour such with long life. The elders are required not to provoke their children to wrath.

A Christ-honouring home is an invaluable asset to the society because as the family members leave for their respective secular tasks, they exhibit Christian virtues needed to stand the community on the formidable pillars of righteousness. Such a structure, “founded upon a rock,” is built to resist end-time rebellion against godliness.

The tragic condition of man, exemplified by the general breakdown of spiritual values among youths leading to disturbing levels of criminality, is the result of failed homes. The Church, thus, must rise to the occasion by restoring hope to mankind through making our homes mirrors of righteousness.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Society will be at peace if Christ is allowed to rule its homes.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
1 Kings 15-16

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
