DCLM Higher Everyday 25 March 2024 — Come Now For A Cleansing
Topic: Come Now For A Cleansing
Text: Isaiah 1:11-20
11To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
12When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
13Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
14Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.
15And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
16Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
18Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Key Verse: “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18).
Message
Leonard Ravenhill asserted, “The greatest miracle that God can do today is to take an unholy man out of an unholy world and make him holy, then put him back into that unholy world and keep him holy in it.” Our text reveals that God is not interested in religious activities, and self-sacrifices of sinners. Many unsaved people, including youths, presume that Church attendance, giving tithe and offering, being a worker in the Church, will suffice for their salvation. This is self- delusion. The only thing that can save and cleanse from sin is salvation through Christ. Today, God is inviting you for a cleansing. Will you answer His call?
Beloved, come to Christ today, just as you are, and receive the miracle of salvation and cleansing from your sin. There is power in the cleansing blood of Jesus. He is ready to receive you if you confess your sins, and surrender your life to Him now. A moment of encounter with Jesus will make it right. It happened so to the Samaritan woman, Nicodemus and Zacchaeus. Why not you?
Quote: Come to Christ today, just as you are
Challenge: Just a little talk with Jesus makes it right.
Prayer for today: Dear God, cleanse me from my sins today, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
