TOPIC: WALK IN TRUTH

TEXT: 2 JOHN 1:1-4

1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

2 For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

Key Verse: “I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father” (2 John 1:4).

MESSAGE:

Sinful children are in the habit of telling lies to show that they are smart and also a way to escape punishment. The Bible refers to the Devil as a liar and the father of it. Everyone who tells a lie is therefore a child of the devil.

There are children who believe that if they tell lies occasionally, God will not be angry. Others believe that if the lies they have told does not have to do with something serious, then it will be overlooked by God. But God desires all His children to be truthful always, whatever the condition they find themselves, because God is Truth and His words are true.

To walk in truth means to make truth your lifestyle, and to embrace the Word of Truth, shunning every falsehood and false way of life, no matter the circumstance. Knowing the truth of God’s word and living by it, makes God happy. He will then bless you with all your heart desires. Let truth rule and reign in your life.

Prayer: Lord, grant me the grace to speak the truth always.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
