DCLM Sincere Milk 10 July 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Command To Obey

Topic: Command To Obey

Text: Ephesians 6:1-3

1Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

2Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

3That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Key Verse: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.” Ephesians 6:1

Message

The right thing for any child to do is obedience. An obedient child gets the favour of everyone. The parents, teachers, pastors, friends and neighbours will want to associate with that child because of obedience. A song writer wrote thus “Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe, doing exactly what the Lord commands, doing it happily, walking in the light, keeping our attitude right, on the narrow way. Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe. O-B-E-D-I-E-N-C-E yes sir! Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe”.

Obedience is of the heart and if you make up your mind as a child to be obedient, you will reap lots of reward here on earth and in heaven. Disobedience brings curse, rejection and separation from God. If you are still a disobedient child, you need to repent so that you will not miss God’s blessings for your life. A wholehearted and complete obedience is the expectation of God.

Make a firm decision today to be an obedient child, repent from any form of disobedience and God will begin to bless you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
