TOPIC: UNSHAKABLE FOUNDATION

TEXT: LUKE 6:46-49

Key Verse: “He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock” (Luke 6:48).

MESSAGE:

Mr. and Mrs. Jackson desired a house of their own and they prayed about the matter. God answered their prayers, and two buildings were offered to them to buy. One was very attractive and the other one not so attractive.

They got an engineer to advise them, and he suggested they buy the one that was not attractive because it had a very solid foundation. The family followed the advice, did a little renovation on the house and enjoyed it for a long period. The one that looked very attractive outwardly, collapsed not too long after.

The foundation is very important in anything we do in life. A building is only as strong as its foundation. A building that is erected on a weak and shallow foundation will collapse in the face of harsh weather conditions.

Our Lord Jesus Christ likened those who hear and obey the word of God to wise builders who build on solid rock and are able to withstand every negative situation. But those who do not act on the word of God are like builders that build on weak foundation, and such people do not find grace to stand in the face of life’s challenges.

As believers, we should be doers of the word of God no matter how inconvenient. The word of God makes us wise and gives us strength to follow Jesus till the end. Be a wise builder.

Prayer: O God, help me to always obey Your word, and give me sufficient grace to follow Jesus till the end.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
