DCLM Higher Everyday 28 October 2022 — Concentrate on one cause

DCLM Higher Everyday 28 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Concentrate on one cause

TOPIC: CONCENTRATE ON ONE CAUSE

TEXT: JOHN 4:28-35

28The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,

29Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

30Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

31In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.

32But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.

33Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?

34Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

35Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

MEMORY VERSE: “Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work” (JOHN 4:34).

Thomas Edison was a famous inventor who greatly influenced modern life. Amongst many things, he invented the incandescent light bulb. He was able to achieve this great feat when he made the decision to concentrate on his life cause, which was invention.

Our Lord Jesus Christ made it clear to His disciples that He had just one cause to accomplish while on earth – to do God’s will and finish His work. His disciples had brought Him a good cause to fulfill (to eat meat), but He chose rather to concentrate on a better cause (His God-given assignment of soul winning).

Each of us has a purpose assigned to us by God. To achieve your purpose to God’s satisfaction, you must concentrate and avoid any distraction that may slow you down.

Have you discovered your purpose yet? Your purpose could range from fashion designing or marketing electronic products to motivating young people to be excellent in all they do. Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might and concentration. God’s grace is sufficient for you.

QUOTE: Concentrate; avoid distractions.

CHALLENGE: You achieve more when you concentrate on one cause.

PRAYER: Oh Lord, please help me to concentrate on my cause. Amen.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
