DCLM Sincere Milk 16 February 2023 — Condition for God’s blessings

DCLM Sincere Milk  16 February 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Condition for God’s blessings

TOPIC: CONDITION FOR GOD’S BLESSINGS

BIBLE TEXT: 1 KINGS 9:1-7

1And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do,

2That the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.

3And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

4And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:

5Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

6But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:

7Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:

KEY VERSE: “And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:” (1 Kings 9:4).

MESSAGE:

Suppose there is a high school in your town that you love so much and would like to attend. You love the school compound, the buildings, the classrooms, their teaching methods, conducts of the students attending that school; in fact, you love everything about the school except their uniform. You do not like the colour of their uniform because it is white; you prefer a brown colour. The question is this: Can they allow you to attend that school as a student without wearing the school uniform? The answer is NO. Wearing the school uniform is one of the conditions of being a student of that school. If you must attend, you must wear the uniform.

God has a lot of blessings for boys and girls as He had for Solomon. But there is a condition to be fulfilled: “And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:” (1 Kings 9:4). This condition is still the same today.

The first act of obedience is to be born again, as Jesus told Nicodemus. The salvation experience gives you the power to be obedient in all other areas. This will open the door of blessings for you. Are you ready for God’s bountiful blessings? Surrender your heart to Jesus Christ today and receive the power to be obedient.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, save my soul and give me the power to be obedient.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
