DCLM Sincere Milk 6 October 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Count Your Blessings
Topic: Count Your Blessings
Text: Psalm 139: 13- 18
13For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
Key Verse: “If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.” Psalm 139:18
Message
Sara’s mom did something wonderful for her last year. She had therefore decided to continue the tradition because of the positive effect it had on her and the entire family. Mom got her two empty jars and labelled one – prayer requests and the other testimonies. She told her that whenever anything bothered her mind, instead of complaining or apportioning blame, she should just write it on a piece of paper and drop it in the empty jar for prayer request, and whenever God answers such prayers or gives her something to testify about, she should drop it in the other jar.
By the end of the year, the testimony jar was almost full with just a few requests in the other. She poured out the testimonies and read them one after the other. She was amazed at how much she had been blessed of God within that short time. We should learn to thank God even for small things. God is bound to do more for us when we appreciate Him for the ones we already received.

Prayer for today: Lord, please, give me the heart of gratitude!
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
