DCLM Sincere Milk  5 October 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — You Are God’s Heritage

Topic: You Are God’s Heritage

Text: Psalm 127: 3- 5

3Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

4As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

5Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Key Verse: “Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.” Psalm 127:3

Message

The word ‘heritage’ means inheritance or possession. As a child, you are privileged to be called God’s heritage, meaning that you belong to God and He owns your entire life and existence. It is true that your biological parents gave birth to you, but God owns you ultimately. God is your Creator, and we are told in Psalm 139:14 “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” For a child that has given his life to Jesus, God has double ownership of his life.

Children are supposed to be holy and godly, so as to be a reward to their parents. You are to live a godly life that makes you a channel of blessings to your parents. Your parents should always praise God for giving you to them. Honour your biological parents, the ministers of God that are teaching you the word of God, your school teachers and elders in the society. Avoid actions that can bring sorrow and shame to your parents. Support them to serve God acceptably. If your parents are not believers, pray for their salvation. Be sensitive to their feelings and be supportive to them. Always pray for them so that they can play their God-given roles to you. When your parents are happy with you, God will be happy and bless you.

Prayer for today: Lord, give me the grace to be Your true heritage.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
