TOPIC: Crush That Lust [Open Heaven for Teens 6 March 2022]

MEMORISE: Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22

READ: 2 Samuel 13:11-15

  1. And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister.
  2. And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.
  3. And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.
  4. Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.
  5. Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Mark 11:1-33 , Numbers 36:1-13 , Deuteronomy 1:1-46

MESSAGE:

In today’s Bible reading, siblings of the same father committed incest with him. Amnon was consumed by what he thought was love for his half-sister, so he discussed with his close friend who then advised him on how he would sleep with her. Few minutes after he had carnal knowledge of her, the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her (2 Samuel 13:15).

My dear daughter, if you’re head over heels in love with a boy whose intention is unknown or unclear to you, then you’re in danger. You are in a very delicate situation which must be handled with caution. Being physically attracted to someone is not a sin but when you imagine how sex with the person would be like, you are toying with destruction, hence, you need to renew your thoughts through the word of God.

Also, lust can be fuelled by seductive dressing, porn and sinful thoughts. If you want to stay pure, you must run from these things.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please take away every unholy feeling in my heart for anyone (mention his/her name).

HYMN: I AM THINE O LORD

  1. I am Thine, O Lord,
    I have heard Thy voice,
    And it told Thy love to me;
    But I long to rise
    in the arms of faith
    And be closer drawn to Thee.

CHORUS
Draw me nearer,
nearer blessed Lord,
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer,
nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.

  1. Consecrate me now to
    Thy service, Lord,
    By the pow’r of grace divine;
    Let my soul look up
    with a steadfast hope,
    And my will be lost in Thine.
  2. Oh, the pure delight
    of a single hour
    That before Thy throne I spend,
    When I kneel in prayer,
    and with Thee, my God
    I commune as friend with friend!
  3. There are depths of love
    that I cannot know
    Till I cross the narrow sea;
    There are heights of joy
    that I may not reach
    Till I rest in peace with Thee.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
