DCLM Higher Everyday 28 September 2023 — Cry Unto Christ: He Cares

DCLM Higher Everyday  28 September 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Cry Unto Christ: He Cares

Topic: Cry Unto Christ: He Cares

Text: Mark 4: 35-41

35And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

36And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

37And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

38And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

40And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

41And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Key Verse: “And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, master, carest thou not that we perish” (Mark 4:38).

Message

Beth Moore said, “God will sometimes allow things to get bad enough that we will be forced to look up to Him. Victory always begins with a cry for help. When we come to the end of our efforts and cry out for help, amazing things happen.” In our text today, we see that even when there arose a great storm of wind, such that the waves beat into the ship and was full, Jesus was in the hinder part, asleep on a pillow, so the disciples who were terribly disturbed and frightened by the situation, had to cry unto Him for help. In short, it was their cry that awoke him from sleep. Jesus responded by rebuking the storm and there was a calm.

Are you currently faced with any disturbing situation in life such as examination failures, intractable sickness, persecution, rejection or bereavement? You need to draw the attention of Jesus through prayer because He cares for you. The Bible says, “Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” (Jeremiah 33:3).

Quote: Draw the attention of Jesus

Challenge: Crying to God is not a sign of weakness.

Prayer for today: Dear God, help me to overcome my problems, in Jesus’ name.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
