DCLM Daily Manna 1 November 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Go Beyond Hearing
TOPIC: Go Beyond Hearing (DCLM Daily Manna 1 November 2021)
📜 TEXT:EXODUS 24:1-11📜
1 And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the Lord, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.
2 And Moses alone shall come near the Lord: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the Lord hath said will we do.
4 And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the Lord.
6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient.
8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.
9 Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:
10 And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.
🔑📖KEY VERSE: “And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient” (EXODUS 24:7).
MESSAGE:
In His characteristic way of driving home His teaching, our Lord relates the story of two men and their father who wanted them to work in his vineyard. He asked the first son to proceed to the field for the job. After telling his father earlier that he would not go, he repented and went. The second son appeared to have gladdened the old man’s heart when he initially said he would go to the field. But eventually, he did not.

Nearly one thousand five hundred years before the time of our Lord Jesus Christ, a similar test came upon the children of Israel as they regained freedom from Egyptian captivity and headed for the Promised Land. Moses received the law of God that the people are required to know while relating with Him and to one another. They needed these instructions to guide them in staying away from sin. * that would separate them from their old ways. The Israelites repeatedly said they would obey the laws of God.
The challenge is not only to read the word of God or to say you accept the law and will abide by it. It is also not to tell your pastor that you will do according to all the commandments of the Lord. It goes beyond heeding the altar call after the evangelist’s message. We pass the test only at the point where we are doers of the Word.
To please the Lord, we must go beyond the levels of hearing and reading His Word. The commandments are given to be obeyed, principally. The born-again child of God feeds and grows on the totality of the Word of God. He must hear, read and above all, obey it indiscriminately. Obedience to the Word is a proof that we are true children of God.
✍🏽THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Lord honours true portrayers of His Word, not mere professors.

MEDITATION
THE THREE MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENTS OF TRUE WORSHIP
There are vain worship (Matthew 15:9), ignorant worship (John 4:22, Acts 17:23), idol worship (Zephaniah 1:5), human worship (Romans 1:25) etc. However, the text shows what must constitute the kind of worship that heaven accepts, v1. This is important in this age of emphasis on worship.
1. The words of the Lord
“All the words of the Lord” shows that there should be no partiality or selective attitude in the preaching or hearing the word of the Lord. The preaching and hearing the whole word of God must be central in true worship above all activities, v3.
2. The consecration to do His will
“All the words which the Lord had said we will do”, v3. Worship looses its potency in the absence of sincere willingness and decision backed by determination to do all that He commands. Mere lip service is as good as dead worship.
3. The blood of the covenant
It is the blood of the covenant that gives access to the presence of God, vv6-9. Ephesians 2:13-18.
Without faith in the blood of Jesus with its consequential cleansing of the heart unto holy living, worship becomes vain.
Note There is always manifestations of divine revelation, presence, blessings and definite supernatural rewards that follow true worship: “And they saw God…”, v9. None worship God truly and remains the same👌
Questions
Is your worship divinely sanctioned or just for self satisfaction? Are there things you have removed from true worship and replaced with vain things like entertainments? Do you receive supernatural blessings to confirm the acceptability of your worships?
They that worship the Lord must worship Him in spirit and in truth, John 4:24.
Holy worship is the constant, humble, obedient and holy disposition of the soul to God. It is the way of life of every true believer
PRAYER POINTS
1. Ask for grace and purity of heart that always give God true and acceptable worship🙏
2. Lord, make me to always be willing to obey all your words without preferring one to the other🙏
3. Lord, purge me from every vain, dead and modern idol worships🙏
4. Lord, purge your children of all lifestyle that is opposed to true worship and let the rewards of true worships always manifest in our midst🙏
HYMN
O WORSHIP THE KING
1. O worship the King all-glorious above,
O gratefully sing his power and his love:
our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,
pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.
2. O tell of his might and sing of his grace,
whose robe is the light, whose canopy space.
His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form,
and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.
3. Your bountiful care, what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.
4. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,
in you do we trust, nor find you to fail.
Your mercies, how tender, how firm to the end,
our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!
5. O measureless Might, unchangeable Love,
whom angels delight to worship above!
Your ransomed creation, with glory ablaze,
in true adoration shall sing to your praise!

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
