Text: Exodus 25:15-30 (KJV)

15 The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not be taken from it.

16 And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.

17 And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.

18 And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.

19 And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof.

20 And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.

21 And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.

22 And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

23 Thou shalt also make a table of shittim wood: two cubits shall be the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.

24 And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of gold round about.

25 And thou shalt make unto it a border of an hand breadth round about, and thou shalt make a golden crown to the border thereof round about.

26 And thou shalt make for it four rings of gold, and put the rings in the four corners that are on the four feet thereof.

27 Over against the border shall the rings be for places of the staves to bear the table.

28 And thou shalt make the staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold, that the table may be borne with them.

29 And thou shalt make the dishes thereof, and spoons thereof, and covers thereof, and bowls thereof, to cover withal: of pure gold shalt thou make them.

30 And thou shalt set upon the table shewbread before me alway.

Key Verse: “And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof which was shewed thee in the mount.” – (Exodus 26:30)

MESSAGE:

In many societies nowadays, the collapse of buildings and other architectural structures is on the rise. Experts have blamed the unfortunate trend on the refusal or inability of some construction engineers to stick to the recommended specifications. Sadly, a good number of people have died prematurely as a result of such accidents resulting from the collapse of buildings.

While death tolls continue to rise, some building contractors and their employers have remained unperturbed. The death of fellow citizens means nothing to them. On the contrary, our God takes into account every minute thing, hence, His instructions and specification for the tabernacle.

The almighty God did not just abandon the job of decision making or the choice of building materials to the builders. He saw the need to give a prior directive. This was to ensure the beauty, acceptability and durability of the structure.

The passage is a challenge to every true believer. The Christian journey calls for implicit obedience. Questioning divine instructions is willful disobedience. Israel did not look at the complicated nature of the instructions on the pattern for the tabernacle, neither did they brush the instructions aside. They stuck to it even when it was difficult to obey.

Likewise, we must be ready to obey all of God’s instructions. Our prayer should be that He should grant us, first, a willing heart; and second, the grace to obey without murmur. It is, however, important to note that believers are the authentic tabernacle of God, for He does not dwell in tabernacles built by hands. We are to ensure that our Christian life is strong enough to withstand every adverse weather.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
